About Us

The mission of this cell is to prepare and give exposure to students on pursuing higher studies abroad and in India. This Cell identifies the Aptitudes of the Students for Higher Studies; accordingly, the Department arranges 'Guidance' through Lectures by eminent personalities so as to assist the students in making their right choice regarding the Subjects, Courses and Universities for Higher Studies, both in India and abroad. This is a well structured Support System for pursuing Higher Studies.

The Higher Education Cell works closely with Training & Placement Cell. BEC Training and Exam activities are coordinated by Higher Education Cell.

Business English Certificate (BEC) is designed to show employers your ability to use English in the workplace. BEC is an internationally recognised suite of three tests, which are aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages:

  • Preliminary - B1 level
  • Vantage - B2 level
  • Higher - C1 level

In our Institution we provide training for both Preliminary - B1 level and BEC Vantage - B2 level for all our students in their second year. Almost all the students take up BEC Exam.

GATE

Why GATE?

A valid GATE score is essential for obtaining financial assistance during Master's programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture, and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science in Institutes (IITs/IISc) supported by the MHRD or other Government agencies.

Several public sector undertakings (PSUs) uses GATE scores for screening for providing a salaried employment. A select few such organizations are: Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, National Thermal Power Corporation, Power Grid India, etc.

CAT

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India for selecting students for the business administration programs at Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) also use the CAT scores for their business administration programs. Non-IIM Member Institutions using CAT Scores .

XAT

XLRI is conducting XAT at all India level to select the most appropriate for management education. The test score is being used by more than 100 institutes for the admission.

MAT

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardised test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003.

TANCET

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is conducted by Anna University for M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan., MBA and MCA programmes in University Departments of Anna University, Goverment and Goverment Aided Engineering Colleges, and Self-Financing Engineering Colleges affliated to Anna University.

GRE

The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a standardised test that is an admissions requirement for most graduate schools in the United States. Prospective graduate and business school applicants from all around the world who are interested in pursuing a master's, MBA, specialized master's in business or doctoral degree take the GRE revised General Test.

TOEFL

Test of English as a Foreign Language or TOEFL is a standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers wishing to enroll in U.S. universities. The test is accepted by many English-speaking academic and professional institutions. TOEFL is one of the two major English-language tests in the world, the other being the IELTS.

IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an international standardised test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. IELTS is one of the two major English-language tests in the world, the other being the TOEFL. IELTS is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand and South African academic institutions, over 3,000 academic institutions in the United States, and various professional organisations across the world. It is also a requirement for immigration to Australia and New Zealand. In Canada, IELTS, TEF, or CELPIP are accepted by the immigration authority.

GMAT

The GMAT exam - created by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the global non-profit council of business schools - sets the standard for its ability to predict success in the classroom. Accepted by more than 6,000 business and management programs worldwide, for nearly 60 years, the GMAT exam has been the test of choice by the world's business leaders to get into the world's leading business schools.

Indian Engineering Services

Indian Engineering Services (IES/ES) constitute of engineers that work under the government of India to manage a large segment of public sector economy which constitutes of Railroads, Public works, Power, Telecommunications, etc. A combined competitive examination is conducted by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services.

Bank Exams

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is the body which is responsible for conducting test for jobs in most of the Public-Sector Banks and some of the private banks.
