ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL (EDC) in educational institutions to develop institutional mechanism to create entrepreneurial culture in S&T academic institutions and to foster techno entrepreneurship for generation of wealth and employment by S&T persons. The EDCs are established in R.M.K. College of Engineering and Technology, having requisite expertise and infrastructure. The mission of the EDCs is to "develop institutional mechanism to create entrepreneurial culture in academic institutions to foster growth of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst the faculty and students".

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL (EDC) of this college was established on its own initiative in the year 2014 with the Principal Dr. E.B. Perumal Pillai as its Director and has been actively conducting programs in entrepreneurship with concerted initiatives to promote entrepreneurship among the students. Mr. K. Jayachandran, Joint Secretary, EDI Chennai, inaugurated the EDC in RMKCET on 28th February 2014. The function was presided over by the Principal, R.M.K. College of Engineering and Technology.
