  • About the Department

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was started in the academic year 2008-2009 an annual intake of 60 students. The intake was subsequently increased to 120 students from the academic year 2009-2010. From the academic year 2012-2013 the intake was further increased to 180 students. The department has always been on a high growth path since the inception. This department has well qualified and experienced faculty in all specializations such as VLSI, Microwave & Optical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Applied Electronics, Communication Systems, Medical Electronics, Power Electronics, Digital Systems and Computer Science. This department has very good instructional and infrastructure facilities.

This department maintains the student to staff ratio , Faculty cadre ratio as per the norms and guidelines of AICTE. Senior faculty members are guiding research scholars enrolled at Anna University, Sathyabama University, St.Peter’s University etc. for the PhD Programs. Our faculty members have received honours and awards for distinguished services in academics and research. The department faculty and students have filed patents. Few faculty members published text books. All our faculty members attend FDPs and workshops regularly to develop their teaching and research skills. Senior faculty members visited several countries including Malaysia, Singapore, and the USA for presenting their research papers, attending technical / standards meetings etc.

The department is consistently producing very good academic results in the Anna University semester examinations from the beginning. Our students participate in symposiums, conferences, workshops, etc. regularly organized by other colleges and universities and win prizes for various events. The department is regularly organizing symposium and workshops which will help to update the practical knowledge of students. Few of our students built prototype Robots for various applications. Students are regularly taken to industries such as Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL), Doordarshan Kendra, All India Radio, Ennore Port Trust, Integral Coach Factory etc. during the course of their study. To enrich their skills, value added courses,Training activities for placements are conducted by expert trainers from the first year itself.

Guest lectures are arranged frequently with eminent professors, research scientists and industrial experts to provide the students with the latest developments across the globe. Besides academics, our students excel in sports and games and win prizes in events organized by other universities and colleges. The training and placement department organizes various training programs with renowned expert trainers from industries and multinational companies to improve the oral, written skills, aptitude skills, of students so that they can be easily hired by leading core and IT industries. In the first batch of students passed out in year 2011-2012, 91% students got placed through campus placement in leading IT industries such as TCS, HCL, Accenture and WIPRO Technologies etc. In 2012-16 batch,96% students got placed in reputed industries

The Central and Department libraries have good collection of around 6291 volumes text and reference books exclusive for ECE department. IEEE ASSP, SPRINGER LINK, Science Direct online journals and a good number of printed national journals are subscribed regularly to promote research culture. All the faculty members are either doctorates or master degree holders. Most of our faculty members pursuing their PhD programs in Anna University, Chennai and are members of various professional bodies such as IEEE, ISTE, IET, etc.

Our faculty members, Dr.C.Arun (Principal Investigator) and Mr.S.Muthumanikam (Co-investigator) have been granted Rs.15.93 lakhs by Space Applications Centre (SAC) – ISRO to carry out a research work in the field of ‘Watermarking For Multimedia Security in FPGA’
